The snow of 2021 (Feb 16)
Over the weekend it snowed nearly a foot in Seattle. We’d been excited to get out in the snow with Lucas ever since picking up some Wheel Blades last year. The idea is that the mini-skis keep the front wheels from digging into ruts and getting the wheelchair stuck…. and they didn’t disappoint. On the first day, the snow was thick and it was pretty tough going as I pushed Lucas up the block. But we made it to the corner and it was glorious to be out as the snow kept coming.
On day 2 we lasted a lot longer, traversing the neighborhood and hanging out for a while at the bottom of the big sledding hill. Lucas was officially on traffic duty as Ida and other kids cruised down the hill (and adults — Krista did more runs than Ida!)
You can see from the video below how the skis faired on the open road.
But Monday the snow started to melt and today its mostly gone but we had fun well it lasted.

You guys really nailed your snow event!! You had every aspect covered, including warm-enough clothes even for the snowman! But those wheelchair skiis were the most impressive – how clever that someone thought to design them, and how clever of you guys to look ahead last year and have them ready to go so you could all have fun in the snow this year! Very cool (literally and figuratively)!!
